Winners September 2009

September has passed by and although we had several contestants send in work, we have decided that no winner will be named the September YAF contest. I guess the assignment was a bit too difficult and the time constraints on you kids were greater than I thought. Anyway, here are the October contest topics

Winners August 2009

I want to congratulate all of the young artists who participated in the Youth Arts Forum August “cover’ contest. I am proud of each one of you as all the works were extremely well done. We have decided on the three winners and I want to congratulate each one. Your work and dedication to your craft should serve as a benchmark for other kids and adults on how to focus on a goal and to have fun while taking action to make it happen. Great work!!!

First Place: Andy Poxon Band - Don't Burn Down That Bridge (Albert King)

Andy astounds us with his passionate blues guitar playing. He takes the stage and the audience becomes wrapped in his playing and his singing. His voice is giving a new level to his already super guitar playing. Many YAF members say they have put his videos on a list to play while they work around the house. Can’t wait to see Andy live in NYC soon.

Second Place: Bria Kelly       White Horse – (Taylor Swift)

Bria has shown her range in her ability to sing as a solo, with a band or with another singer. This “cover” is a stunning rendition and really goes to the heart. Her 2 band members for this song (Nick and Holly) have also done a great job making this cover a winner. We look for Bria when our NYC concert is scheduled.

Third Place: Alex Raz   Star Spangled Banner -  (Hendrix)

Alex is really an extraordinary young artist. He took the Star Spangled Banner and proceeded to make it his own with the very well known “Hendrix Woodstock” cover. The crowd in the arena saw a very special young man. We look forward to seeing Alex in NYC soon.
