Jake Haldenwang is a 14-year-old rock blues guitarist, vocalist and song writer sensation. He was selected as the guitarist to represent the Carolina’s at the 25th, 2009 International Blues Challenge in Memphis. He delivers searing guitar solos and rhythms with an intensity that belies his youth. His performances combine a variety of powerful influences with a soulful feeling that is rarely witnessed in someone so young. He started playing the guitar when he was 11-years-old and was performing live, by the time he was 12. By the time he was age 13, he was a seasoned stage performer. Jake plays a brand of “scorchin’ rock blues” in a style that is all his own, combined with an undeniable stage presence, making him must see artist.

Jake has had the privilege of performing on stage with some great regional and national blues recording artists to include: legendary blues man “Buddy Guy”, The Tommy Castro Band, Robin & Tony Rogers, Dave Fields, Blind Mississippi Morris, BB Kings All Stars, Bob Margolin’s All Star Band, Contagious Blues Band, Rusty Barkley’s Part Time Blues Band, Mac Arnold (former bass player for Muddy Waters) and he has opened for producer, singer/song writer extraordinaire “Tom Hambridge in Nashville TN.

His five piece band “Jake Haldenwang & Hwy 61”, is a project fueled by the vocals and fiery leads of guitar sensation, Jake Haldenwang and the rich vocals of lead singer/harp player, John Haldenwang. Together they deliver a unique brand of scorchin' rock blues. Blending traditional, contemporary, progressive & original rock blues, with searing guitar solos, intense vocals and a hard-driving rhythm section, they are a high-powered must see act. They draw inspiration for their high-powered gritty blues sound from artist such as; Johnny Winter, Rory Gallagher, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Joe Bonamassa, Jimi Hendrix, ZZ Top, The Allman Brothers and Eric Clapton & Cream. When Jake Haldenwang & Hwy 61 hit the stage, they are in full tilt overdrive that will have your feet stomping and your heart pounding.

Jake has played club dates and festivals through-out the south east, to include “First Night” Charlotte’s New Years Eve Celebration Festival, the legendary Double Door Inn, Midtown Sundries, 51 South and the Visulite Theatre in Charlotte, NC., BB Kings, The Rum Boogie Café, Club 152 and Morgan Freemans “Ground Zero Club” in Memphis, TN., The Burgundy Blues Jazz Club in Anderson SC, Brackins Blues Bar in Maryville TN, The Funky Blues Shack in San Destin, Florida and 3rd & Lindsley in Nashville, TN
Additionally, he has been the featured artist on Charlotte Fox Radio -WRFX 99.7 FM “Rick Ballew’s “Smokin’ Bluz” Radio Program, “WBTV” Charlottes NBC affiliate news channel, Rock Hill’s CN2 News and WRHI 94.3 FM Radio, and WSGE-91.7 FM Gaston College.
