Nocturnal Rush

guitarist Nocturnal Rush

Nocturnal Rush BIO (for YAF – July 2010 Featured Artists of the Month)

This group of young and talented musicians is passionate about playing music and entertaining audiences!

In early 2010, powerhouse lead singer Kaela Heiston and talented bassist Aidan Hall joined forces with drummer Jake Rosenthal and lead guitarist Trevor Fichtner to form Nocturnal Rush.  These young teens live in three counties in the Northern Virginia suburbs outside Washington DC.

The band is inspired by the legends of rock, and performs rock classics, as well as original songs.  They have released three originals, Nocturnal Rush, Heartless Warriors and Get Out, and have a fourth song in the works, all of which will be featured on their upcoming album.

Though only 14 and 15 year old, the musicians of Nocturnal Rush are seasoned performers.  Band members have played at prime venues in VA, MD and DC, including the 9:30 Club, the Sylvan Theatre, Jaxx Nightclub and the Adams Morgan Day Festival.  Recently Nocturnal Rush was featured as the youngest band performing at the Celebrate Fairfax! Festival.  The band has entertained crowds at charity events and is booked for several regional, county and state fairs and festivals.  The combination of talent, practice, dedication and energy is evident in their music and live performances.

Nocturnal Rush is thrilled to be part of Youth Arts Forum and is looking forward to meeting other members.

KAELA HEISTON, lead singer, age 14, has a natural vocal talent that was obvious at a very early age.  Starting at age 10, she began professional voice training with a Russian opera singer, then at a local rock school.  Just six notes from this powerhouse, and she was asked to join the band.  Kaela draws inspiration from Pat Benatar, Evanescence, Allison Krauss and Janis Joplin.  Kaela is a rising sophomore at Stone Bridge High School in Ashburn, VA.

TREVOR FICHTNER, lead guitar/vocals, age 14, comes from a family of rock musicians.  He never fails to amaze crowds with the fast-fingered guitar solos that make classic rock so much fun.  Trevor is among the youngest guitarists to be endorsed by Paul Reed Smith Guitars.  His influences are Slash, Angus Young, Randy Rhoads, Eddie Van Halen, his music teacher Matthew Mills and Beethoven. Trevor is a rising 8th grader at Bull Run Middle School in Gainesville, VA.

AIDAN HALL, bass/vocals, age 15, is the eldest of the group.  He grew up in a family of musicians and has always had a natural ability for music. He played double bass throughout middle school orchestra. Aidan really enjoys playing electric bass and likes to jam to rock & roll.  Aidan enjoys all genres of music, with Guns N' Roses, Green Day and Linkin Park among his favorites.  Aidan is a rising sophomore at Paul VI Catholic High School in Fairfax, VA.

JAKE ROSENTHAL, drums/vocals, age 14, started studying drums at age 7. It took time to find an instructor willing to take on such a young student, but after just a few lessons it became evident that he is an unusually gifted percussionist.  Jake admires drummers Buddy Rich and David Grohl.  Jake plays a variety of percussion instruments in his school’s band, including timpani and marimba, but his passion is his drum set.  Jake is a rising freshman at Chantilly High School in Chantilly, VA.
