Matt Roy BIO (for YAF – FEB 2011 Featured Artists of the Month)
Matt has been singing and playing guitar since he was 7 years old. Highlights include performing at BB King's, the Blender Theatre, and the Highline Ballroom in NYC, as well as the Electric Factory in Philadelphia. He has opened for the Dropkick Murphy's, Paul Rodgers, Fab Faux, and Grand Funk Railroad and has performed multiple shows with rock legend Leslie West. In the last year, Matt has turned his attention to writing and performing his own material and will be performing a mostly "original" show this summer, and thereafter. An accomplished guitar player, his goals are to keep getting better and mature into a serous recording artist. His musical tastes are varied as he loves and performs classic, alternative, acoustic as well as country music. His performance style as well as his approach to music has been influenced a great deal by singer/songwriter's Eddie Vedder, Bruce Springsteen, Dave Matthews, Peter Gabriel, Rob Thomas, Kenny Chesney and John Mayer.
